You're not alone
If you’re reading this and things have been feeling confusing or overwhelming, you’re not the only one.
Preteens and teens often struggle in ways that aren’t easy to explain.
What shows up as anxiety, withdrawal, irritability, or conflict can reflect deeper patterns shaped by stress, relationships, or earlier experiences.
If things have been feeling difficult or unclear, you’re not alone in that—and support can help.
Therapy for preteens & teens in Ontario
We offer therapy for preteens and teens across Ontario, including therapy for teens in Aurora, Bolton, and surrounding areas, as well as online.
Our focus is not only on managing symptoms, but on understanding what’s happening beneath the surface—and supporting meaningful, lasting change.
A trauma-informed approach to
therapy for teens
Rather than viewing struggles as problems to 'fix', we understand them as patterns shaped by the nervous system in response to past and present experiences.
Therapy for teens is:
-
paced carefully and respectfully
-
focused on the nervous system, not just thoughts or behaviours
-
relational and collaborative
-
tailored to each young person
We aim to create a space that is affirming, respectful, and responsive to each individual, including those who identify as LGBTQ2S+.

How we work
There isn’t one single way that therapy works for everyone.
We take a thoughtful, flexible approach, adjusting based on what feels most helpful for each young person.
This may include approaches like EMDR, Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), DBT, and CBT.
Rather than focusing on a specific method, our work is guided by what supports real change—at the level of the nervous system, emotions, and relationships.

How therapy supports lasting change
Therapy supports more than short-term coping.
Therapy can help you:
-
understand what’s really going on beneath the surface
-
feel less overwhelmed by your thoughts and emotions
-
make sense of reactions that don’t always make sense
-
feel more like yourself again
-
build a stronger sense of safety and connection
When things have been going on for a while—or keep coming back even when you’re trying to handle them—it can help to take a different, deeper approach.
Working with parents and caregivers
When appropriate, we work collaboratively with parents and caregivers to support understanding, communication, and change outside of sessions.
At the same time, therapy for preteens and teens respects the young person’s need for privacy, safety, and autonomy within the therapeutic relationship.
